Patterned + Layered Guest Bedroom

After living in a place for a year or so, I usually come to realize that I like the guest bedroom more than I like the master bedroom, possibly because I put more consideration into decorating the guest bedroom. I sleep in the guest bedroom now and then to make sure I’m not overlooking anything […]

The Best-Designed TV Homes

Some TV shows just nail it with the set design. Here are my favorite TV spaces.

Beachy Textured Master Bedroom

Whew, what a month. In the midst of the continued coronavirus lockdown here in Algiers, back home there’s yet another police killing of a black person, and now protests all over the country in response. It feels like the start of a major public reckoning on racism in the U.S. and it’s a wild time […]

The Handsome Dark Green Study

It’s been a home decor fantasy for of mine for a number of years to have a handsome dark green study. A room dark and cozy, worn yet sophisticated, a room that beckons one to select a book from the towering bookshelf and sit down and read. Or, that encourages one to sit and write, […]

Coral and Navy Guest Bedroom

There’s something about being at home all day every day that really makes one consider all the nooks and crannies of one’s home. So what better time than to style, photograph, and share some of the completed rooms in our Algiers house, amiright? When we moved in to our Algiers house in the heat of […]

Our Bright and Eclectic Rabat Apartment

Sadly, our time in relaxing and pretty Rabat is winding down. We depart in early July for our next post, Algiers. We were only in our spacious, suburban apartment for less than 10 months, but that short amount of time didn’t stop me from enjoying the heck out of setting up a space that feels […]

Oulja Artisan Village: A Moroccan Decor Paradise

When I first moved to Rabat, I heard whisperings that there was a “pottery village” across the river in Salé and I was intrigued. When I finally checked out Oulja Pottery Village, or as I call it Oulja Artisan Village (because it’s more than pottery), I was gobsmacked. There exists a peaceful complex filled with […]

Our Sleek and Modern Jerusalem Apartment

It’s finally here: The day when I feel happy enough about the state of our apartment to take pictures and share them with you all! When we first arrived to Jerusalem (almost two years ago to the day), I was in tears when I saw our drab apartment out in the West Jerusalem suburbs, but […]

Before and After: Modern Gray Bedroom

Both my mom and I have been having a recurring dream for years where we discover hidden rooms in our homes that we never knew existed. One time I dreamed that my guy roommate had a bowling alley and a garden room through the closet in his bedroom. Here we were sharing a small two […]

A very sunny and very windy NYC day. With Cobblestones!
I’ve been enjoying and gleaning inspiration from oysters lately.
One year ago we were in the Sahara desert for the moving and memorable OneBeat Sahara concert (something our team at the US Embassy Algiers, and especially @adamsigelman, planned for years). I’ll always remember that sunny perfect day in the desert, music rising up over ancient rock carvings, the palpable excitement in the crowd of a shared once-in-a-lifetime experience.
I’ve been really enjoying going to to estate sales lately, poking through people’s homes for treasures, and going to antique stores (especially in Lambertville, NJ). Add in a good workout, a nice meal, and that’s my ideal Sunday right there.
Me standing in front of the Matisse masterpiece, Joy of Life. That man loved him some color, as do I. I recently had a Matisse-tastic day in Philadelphia and I want you all to know about the Barnes Foundation, a museum unlike anything I knew existed. Blogged about it on Next Dinner Party (link in my bio up top).
