I’ve Got a Real Pants-Wearing Job

Just when I was complaining about how lazy I am, I got the call: My security clearance finally came through and I could begin work at the government job for which I was hired ten months ago. So, last week I bid farewell to the Diplocats and the blue velvet sofa and I ventured out of my […]

New Year Goal: Stop Being So Lazy

When I was 28 and had just quit my job as a journalist, got married, and moved to Yemen, I wrote a blog post in which I vowed to never stop with my creative pursuits, and to always live a life of passion. Four years later is probably a good time to revisit my wide-eyed […]

Flowers, bunnies, eggs. That’s an Easter table right there. Happy Easter everyone!
It’s just starting to be Spring in Michigan. Also: I got some very good news on the health front (and I blogged about it on TheNextDinnerParty.com).
A church turned bar/sandwich shop in Detroit.
International travel during the pandemic is so weird! And ever-changing. I’ve had layovers in Paris in the last year where I left the airport and stayed in a friend’s Parisian apartment. But France’s lockdown is tres strict right now which meant I had to hang for 22 hours in the Paris airport on my Algiers-Detroit trip. It wasn’t so bad! And how stylish is this retro lounge area?
The custom Algerian sofa is complete! It’s the best place in which to sip a martini at the end of the day and it doubles as a very cushy reading spot. (New blog post up on how this came together, with lots more photos, on my blog, TheNextDinnerParty.
