Our Bright and Eclectic Rabat Apartment

Sadly, our time in relaxing and pretty Rabat is winding down. We depart in early July for our next post, Algiers. We were only in our spacious, suburban apartment for less than 10 months, but that short amount of time didn’t stop me from enjoying the heck out of setting up a space that feels […]

Our Sleek and Modern Jerusalem Apartment

It’s finally here: The day when I feel happy enough about the state of our apartment to take pictures and share them with you all! When we first arrived to Jerusalem (almost two years ago to the day), I was in tears when I saw our drab apartment out in the West Jerusalem suburbs, but […]

The Most Beautiful Sofa in the World

When we first set eyes on our dreary Jerusalem apartment, located in a complex that abuts a field of trash, we weren’t stoked, to say the least. But that’s the rub with this whole Foreign Service being-assigned-a-house thing: Sometimes you get winners, like our spacious and well-located Madrid pad, and sometimes you get dropped in […]

Sunny Chartreuse Living Room

Chartreuse is the happiest of colors. It’s like if grass mated with the sun. I even love the word chartreuse.  Elegant, vibrant, and so very French. The color is actually named after a liquor French monks first made in the 1700s, which makes me like the color even more. I’ve always loved chartreuse. My mom […]

DIY in Madrid

Hola! I’ve been neglecting this blog, and well, everything else in life really, because I’m totally consumed by decorating our new apartment. I’ve had countless sleepness nights poring over decorating blogs. Paint colors, furniture, artwork and making cool groupings of knick-knacks is pretty much all I’ve been thinking about. Which I’m aware has made me […]

The always inspiring streets of Manhattan. Had a wonderful two-day visit recently and can’t wait to go back lots more. Princeton, NJ is just an hour train ride from NYC.
On the beautiful and very British-feeling Princeton University campus. Princeton, NJ is our home for the next year as @adamsigelman works toward a masters degree in public policy. We’re still part of the State Department’s Foreign Service - Adam’s just lucky enough to have them pay for an academic year, at a rather prestigious university to boot. Looking forward to embracing all the charms of academia.
Had a lovely visit with the parents, Frank and Kathy, as well as the whole fam. It’s nice to be living on the same continent as these two.
Back in America, but half of my heart is in Algeria (ooh na-na ayy, ayy). New blog post up on all the things I'll miss about Algeria at NextDinnerParty.com.
I love the traditional embroidered, heavily beaded and jeweled Algerian jacket, called a karakou, and a the “circle pants” (yes, those are pants). Got dressed up at a recent fashion show by the talented designer Yamina (@maison_decouture_elegance).
I worried that three days camping in the Sahara wilderness would be too much but it wasn’t enough. I visited Djanet in November, 2021 and I hope to go back someday. It captured my heart. New blog post up on that excellent trip (TheNextDinnerParty.com)
